PegMedia is the nation's content exchange for PEG (Public, Educational, and Government) Access community television. Independent producers upload programming to PegMedia, and participating stations across the country download and air it locally on their channels.
How It Started
2007
Robert Nichols founded PegMedia as a way for stations in his home state of Maine to share content with each other. What started as a local tool quickly expanded to serve stations and content producers across the entire United States.
2007–2021
For 14 years, Robert grew PegMedia into a nationwide platform reaching tens of millions of cable television viewers. When the time came to find a permanent home, he looked for a company with shared interests and values in the PEG community.
January 2021
Robert transitioned the operation of PegMedia to Cablecast Community Media. With Cablecast's large nationwide customer base and deep roots in the PEG industry, the team worked to update the platform's website and user interface — making it easier to use, easier to manage, and ready to grow.
Today
PegMedia can be used by PEG stations throughout the country regardless of playout or automation system — we encourage all access stations to participate. Robert wanted us to keep PegMedia affordable and accessible to the entire PEG community, and we have done just that.
