Episode Description:

On May 14th, Sally Chappell, former Environmental Consultant for the Maine Council of Churches addressed Pax Chrisi Maine members and their guests at St. Mary's Church Hall in Bangor, Maine. Her presentation featured the worst groups of chemicals and elements still allowed in household products which are still sold in the United States. She shows us some products that are harmful and she shows us how some retailers and manufacturers are voluntarily removing harmful additives. We will learn how Maine , at least in the past, has been a leader in eliminating the toxic mess. Finally, Sally suggests things we can do to clean up our grocery and toy shelves. Following Sally's presentation, we'll see clips from the Alice and Lincoln Day film, "Scarred Lands and Wounded Lives". The film shows how wars and the military have systematically degraded our environment; possibly beyond the tipping point.
