In this episode of Expedition New England, Scott joins Captain Ed Stilwagen of the Atlantic Clam Farms Inc. on his most unique clam harvesting vessel. Aside from safely harvesting the mollusks, Ed’s invention also cleans the sea floor of tons of garbage each year making Long Island Sound a more healthy ecosystem for all the creatures that rely on it for survival.
Additionally, Scott explains the causes of Hypoxia “one of the biggest threats to marine life in Long Island Sound.”
Finally, after a full day at sea, Scott brings you back to the dock where Ed and his crew process the shell fish and send them off to Market.
