Episode Description:

Reeling is on hiatus for 2 weeks so we are making our favorite special on the history of
trains in movies, from the very first film ever projected to a paying audience "L'arrive
D'un Train A La Ciotat"), through silent Westerns, Hitchcock, holocaust documentaries and even the Beatles, available for download.

We discuss how trains are used to startle, for hellos and goodbyes, dining, as sexual
symbolism, to commit suicide, for crazy stunts, and as social divides using examples from
such films as "North by Northwest," "Dr. Zhivago," "Shoah," "The Out of Towners" and
"The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" among many others.

This is Reeling #0213 - please check near the top of the list to download.
