Episode Description:

On November 17th, the Maine Prisoner Advocacy Coalition delivered a People's Indictment against the Maine Department of Corrections and Commissioner Magnusson. The indictment states that the Maine DOC treated Victor Valdez, an immigrant, with cruel and inhumane treatment which resulted in Victor's death. There are ten listed allegations, many of which are corroberated by witnesses. The group had to catch Commissioner Magnusson at the front door of the D.O.C. building when he thought they had left. The Commissioner refused to accept the indictment.

Later that evening, at Colby College, Reverend Stan Moody delivered scathing remarks about the dysfunctional nature of the criminal justice system, particularly Maine State Prison and the Super Max in Warren. Reverend Moody was the prison chaplain at MSP when Sheldon Weinstein was presumably beaten and left to die in solitary confinement. Even the State Police investigators eventually ruled Weinstein's death a homicide - after his body (and the evidence) was cremated by prison officials.
