In this episode of Expedition New England we encounter the insects who have found a home in our garden. Some of them are eating the squash like the Mexican Bean Beetle and others are just breeding like the magnificent Swift Long Winged Skimmer, a dragon fly that will change the way you see these living, breathing helicopters.
In a flashback scene we are joined my Michelle Williams of Green Irene who is dedicated to empowering us to preserve energy and reduce our impact on the planet. She gives us some easy and cheap ways to save electricity in addition to heat!
Finally, we discover that once again the animal kingdom has tricked us! For months Race Tucker has been running around capturing “what we thought to be” Colorado Potato Beetles. But after close inspection we found that a strange cousin has evolved into a practically identical beetle with one tiny change in appearance. You’ll flip when you see what it is!
