Episode Description:

On February 13th, over fifty Maine artists and poets met at the United Church of Christ in Bath, Maine. All day long artists such as Rob Shetterly, Natasha Mayers and Corliss Chastain drew alternatives to ways of spending the two and a half billion dollars that is Maine's share of the military debt of two wars. The artists spoke about the meaning of their work. After a pot luck supper, Maine musician, Hana Maris and her son entertained the crowd with some original music aimed at the military spending of Maine taxpayer money. Several poets then read their recent works. Among them were Maine's Poet Laureate, Betsy Scholl and Navy veteran, Becky Farley.

This draw-a-thon was part of a long term Maine Campaign to Bring Our War $$ Home. This campaign is backed by Maine Code Pink, Veterans for Peace, Maine Artists, Peace Action Maine, Eastern Maine Peace and Justice Center and many other Maine peace and justice activist groups. This event proves to be not only informative, but entertaining, as well.
