Episode Description:

In the Footsteps of Frederic Church
People and Places in Maine is back with a brand new show about the incredible effort by the Woodworth family of Millinocket Maine to restore the home of world renowned artist Fredreric Church's 1870's camp on Lake Millinocket. Maine artist, Evelyn Dunphy held the first painting workshop at the camp during October 2009 and we were invited to film the historic event and take part in the 5 day workshop.
Evelyn in addition to being a gifted and award winning artist is also the first artist to be awarded the Natural Resources Council of Maine's Peoples Choice Award. When Brownie Carson, Executive Director of NRCM, presented the award he said "Evelyn's work, enthusiasm, and energy have moved mountains, we trust that she will move many more"
Being the first resident artist at the restored camp is but one of those mountains and the first step in the Woodworth's effort to bring the camp back into the lives of painters, photographers and sportsman from all over the world and to insure this historic site remains protected and a vacation goal for all of us.
