Episode Description:

On December 5th the Maine Fair Trade Campaign (MFTC) held its first annual luncheon at the Congregational Church in Waterville. Coalition members who were at the protest against the W.T.O. in Seattle ten years ago related their experiences to over thirty members. Representative Mike Michaud attended and received an award from the Maine Fair Trade Campaign for his work with fair trade legislation.

In the second segment, on December 12th, a coalition of labor and environmental activists sponsored testing of toys for toxic substances. An X-ray flourescence device was used to detect toxins in toys and other children's products. Even the controversial Zhu Zhu toy was revealed to contain high amounts of dangerous antimony, contrary to what the FDA recently reported.
