On September 13, 2016, UMass Boston’s McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies, WBUR, and The Boston Globe hosted a debate on Ballot Question 2: Whether voters should agree to raise the cap on the number of charter schools in Massachusetts.

Representatives of Great Schools Massachusetts, which advocates raising the cap, and Save Our Schools, which opposes the question, squared off in an hourlong debate at The McCormack Theatre on the UMass Boston campus. The debate was broadcast live on WBUR’s “Radio Boston” and live streamed on the internet.

The debate featured former state Representative Marty Walz, currently principal of Marty Walz and Associates, on behalf of Great Schools Massachusetts, and Boston City Councilor Tito Jackson on behalf of Save our Schools. WBUR’s Meghna Chakrabarti was joined by The Boston Globe’s David Scharfenberg to moderate the debate.
