Episode Description:

On September 20, 2016, UMass Boston’s McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies, WBUR, and The Boston Globe hosted a debate on Ballot Question 3: Whether voters should agree to ban some confinement of certain farm animals.

Paul Shapiro, vice president of farm animal protection for the Humane Society of the U.S. representing Citizens for Farm Animal Protection, which put forward the ballot question squared off against Bill Bell, general manager of the New England Brown Egg Council.
No formal ballot committee has been formed in opposition to Question 3, but the council drafted the main opposition argument for the Secretary of State's Voter Guide.

The debate was held at the McCormack Theatre on the UMass Boston campus and broadcast live on WBUR’s “Radio Boston” and streamed on the internet.

WBUR’s Deborah Becker was joined by The Boston Globe’s Joshua Miller to moderate the Question 3 debate.
