This episode features a discussion of the societal issues raised by new advances in biomedicine. The guest is Hank Greely, Law Professor at Stanford Law School and Director of the Center for Law and the Biosciences, where he specializes in the ethical, legal, and social implications of new biomedical technologies, especially those related to genomics and stem cell research. He is chair of California’s Human Stem Cell Research Advisory Committee, and serves on numerous other boards and commissions that deal with the issues raised by biotechnological advances. He is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and has also done legal work for the U.S. Defense Department and the U.S. Energy Department. Early in his career he served as a law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart. Martin Wasserman hosts.
