Episode Description:

Third episode of the 11th annual ESTIA Conference – U o M, Orono. Distinguished Professor of Architecture, MIT, Jan Wampler will define architecture, not as a the design and construction of buildings but rather as planning the space for all living things, human and non-human to be able to live in harmony. Only through this harmony can true sustainability be attained. He debunks many of the structures designed to look “impressive” and intimidating. According to professor Wampler, simpler and smaller are far superior to complicated and oppressively huge. Wampler and his students have been sought worldwide for their progressive insight.
