Episode Description:

From his bird observation station in Higganum, Connecticut Scott Tucker and his faithful Expedition New England Team catch a rare glimpse of a Pileated Woodpecker searching for insects one cold January morning in 2008. But no matter how much they love New England, each year Scott leads the Expedition Team out of their cozy nest in search of creatures of a more southerly latitude. However, this year traveling with his family while trying to create a documentary about wildlife in the Mojave Desert turns out to be a major contradiction of forces. Nevertheless, Scott explores the Sodium Chloride deposits of the Bristol Dry Lake bed as well as Joshua Tree National Park on the way to the Kelso Dunes in the Mojave National Preserve. Once again the ants, wildflowers and reptiles dominate Scott’s attention as they flourish amongst the barren desert landscape.
