Episode Description:

New England is loaded with wildlife beyond belief, but after years and years of human population growth our roads have created a death trap. In this special edition, Scott Tucker explores what happens to wildlife in New England when roadways and subdivisions expand deeper and deeper into the backwoods of Middlesex County, Connecticut. Awesome reptiles like the Spotted Turtle are getting crowded out of existence due to the fragmented habitat. Instead of thousands of animals living in harmony we have created a world where just a few species like Bull frogs and Poison Ivy dominate the ecosystem.

Thanks to organizations like the “Rockfall Foundation” local leaders are getting informed about “Smart Growth” practices that help guide us with community development where neighborhoods are bicycle friendly and wildlife can co-exist with us.
