Episode Description:

In our 102nd episode of Expedition New England Scott, Race and Ava lead you on another journey into the microscopic world but this time there is a twist. What could possibly survive the night during an onslaught of the polar vortex? As it turns out much more than you would expect. Scott and Race brave the sub-zero temps and chop their way thru the ice of a vernal pool in Southern Connecticut to carefully extract water samples for microscopic review. Then thanks to the sharp eye of Ava Tucker the threesome sift out some of the most amazing organisms on the planet- some of which that have existed since the Jurassic Period. Sandwiched in between all this action Scott flashes you back to March 2012 and his journey to the Galapagos Islands to encounter Penguins, Tortoise, Land & Marine Iguanas and Green Sea Turtles all which are endemic to the Galapagos Islands. Last but not least Race and Scott follow up a lead from trusty ENE friend Chris Pimely who opens up a chance to witness effects of climate change in the form of a major Striped bass die off.
