Episode Description:

Jan Kloub, of Solon, Maine asked me if I would help him make a video about the farmer's market in Skowhegan. I said yes and was glad I did. It turned out that the farmer's market was more than just a place to buy locally produced food. It was an actual community in itself. Twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays, all summer) local farmers and gardeners set up tables to display and sell their harvest. There is also a pick up facility where folks can sign up for a weekly subscription of a fresh diversity of vegetable, herbs and meats: all organic and natural. Each week, the crowd is also entertained by local musician's. This week, it happened to be "Kiss me Sister". Also on location is the Pick Up Cafe, specializiing in breakfast and lunch made from locally grown food. Truly, this is much more than a farmer's market.
