Episode Description:

On August 3, Representative Ann Dorney (Maine District 86) organized an energy expo at Madison High School. More than a dozen local vendors and agencies working in the energy field spent eight hours at their tables to explain the many versions of providing energy in our homes. Among the energy sources presented were: Oil and natural gas, propane, wood pellets, geo-termal and direct solar and photo-voltaic. Ways to save and finance energy were also at tables. Besides the tables, there were full presentations given by representatives concerning energy sources and educational opportunities in the energy fields. I chose to feature the presentation on weatherization by The Breathable Home. Owner, Bo Jesperson, of Manchester not only showed ways to save energy, but presented a really accurate way to describe the true economics of weatherization. By far, weatherization will save more money per dollar invested no matter which energy source you choose. Weatherization is also the most affordable when you have a very tight budget.
