Maine has many groups working for Peace and Justice. Pax Christi, Maine is one such group. On April 20, Pax Christi Maine and The Sisters of Mercy of the Americas hosted National Pax Christi speakers. Key note speaker, Patty Chappell reminded members of the four basic intiatives of Pax Christi: Spirituality of Nonviolence and Peacemaking, Disarmament, Demilitarization & Reconcilliation with Justice, Economic and Interracial Justice in the US and Human Rights and Global Restoration. She and others outlined some specific programs and talked about challenges that Pax Christi faces today. Though Pax Christi is a Catholic Peace Group, it is truly ecumenical and all denominations and religions are welcomed.
