Bob Krouse, pastor of the Little Swatara  Church of the Brethren  has served the Church of the Brethren for many years. Together with his wife, Carol, they were missionaries in Nigeria from 1985 to 1987 and Bob served as the Nigeria Mission Coordinator from 2004 to 2006. He also has worked as an addictions counselor and helped Cornerstone, a new church plant in Lebanon, Pensilvania begin a 12–step-recovery-ministry.

Currently, Bob serves as pastor of the Little Swatara Church of the Brethren near Bethel, PA where the congregation has recently established  "The Gathering Place," coffee house.

Bob grew up in the Methodist Church.  As a music major at Temple University, he served as a choir director of the Ambler Church of the Brethren where he learned about the denomination’s stand against war.  As a conscientious objector, Bob appreciated the support and encouragement of the Brethren and served two years of alternative service in a mental hospital in Philadelphia.

While pursuing a bachelor's degree in musical performance at Temple, Bob felt God's call to the ministry.  Following his graduation from Temple in 1972, he married his wife, Carol, and they began attending Bethany Theological Seminary in Oakbrook, IL  where he completed a Master of Divinity Degree in 1975. Their first pastorate was at Trinity Church of the Brethren in Baltimore, MD.

Brethren Disaster Ministries and Brethren Volunteer Service are two of the church outreach programs that Bob appreciates.  In September 2012, Bob participated with other Brethren in assisting to build housing in Haiti.  The Brethren have assisted with the building of 160 homes in Haiti following the devastating earthquake and hurricanes.

Brent Carlson, the host of “Brethren Voices” interviews Bob about his thoughts of being the  Moderator  for the Annual Conference  and the plans for the “Big Meeting”  to be held in Charlotte, NC.,  June 29 – July 3, 2013.

“This is a challenging time for our church. We are not of one mind on a number of important issues and we haven't always been at our best as we've wrestled with our differences.  As we gather in Charlotte, North Carolina, let us humble ourselves and pray that God will ”Move in our Midst”, to restore, refresh and revive us.” ~ Bob Krouse
