Preview is only available to registered and logged in users.

Episode Description:

Families of prisoners in Massachusetts pay a lot of money to connect with their loved ones in houses of correction. Why? Because those who operate the prisons have made sweetheart deals with expensive telecom companies to make calling out as expensive as possible. While the administrators get kickbacks, families of prisoners struggle to cover phone bills and wonder if they should answer another collect call- even when that call could be an emergency.
