Episode Description:

For the first 3 weeks of April, the University of Maine at Farmington is hosting a film festival dedicated to social justice. On April 2, a film ("Independent Media in Time of War" by Amy Goodman was shown. Farmington staff, Luann Yetter, introduced the film with a short history of the media and war since the Spanish-American War. Lance Tapley, an award-winning Maine journalist talked about independent journalism after the film. Though I did not include the film in the show, I did provide directions for viewers to see the film for free on-line.

At the end of the show, I give a plug for access TV and the role it can play in filling in the spaces with today's mass media.
