Code Pink, Veterans for Peace and many others gathered at the gates of Bath Iron Works to encourage the conversion of BIW to peaceful purposes such as the building of wind towers and parts for public transportation trains. There must have been some success. On April 7, 2009 Defense Secretary Gates announced that ALL the new Naval vessels will be built in Maine, rather than most in Mississippi. Could this be a Government attempt to shut down any talk of peaceful conversion?
