In the Unite States, suicide rates are rising. Young people are more at risk than any other age group. Gay young people are much more likely to take their own lives are attempt suicide than other adolescents.

There is much concern about the alarming rates of suicide among various groups of our society. The suicide rates among the members of the military who have returned home following tours of duty are described as staggering. The numbers who have taken their own lives rivals the actual death toll of military personnel who have been killed in Afghanistan and Iraq.
